Welsh Women’s Aid are looking for community members to take part in the ASK ME scheme and are offering free online courses.  Ask Me is a scheme for people who want to raise awareness about violence against women and share information about domestic abuse.  To join participants need to be 18+ and successfully complete the free “Welcome to Ask me” course.  To learn more click here

Choose Pharmacy

Did you know many local pharmacies, including High Street Pharmacy and Aneurin Evans Pharmacy, now have Independent Prescribing Pharmacists who are able to help with many minor ailments (see image attached).  They also offer free NHS prescribing services for some extra conditions such as Urinary Tract Infections, Tonsillitis and Sinus Infections.  These services allow patients to be seen more promptly without the need to contact your GP and allow GPs to prioritise patients with more urgent medical conditions.

Under 18's Drop-in Sexual Health Clinics

A drop-in sexual health clinic for Under 18’s is available in Barry at Broad Street Clinic on Thursdays from 3pm-5pm. A clinic also runs at the department of Sexual Health at Cardiff Royal Infirmary on Tuesdays from 2pm-5pm.
 
Clinics for patients over the age of 18 are held in Cardiff Royal Infirmary by APPOINTMENT ONLY. Please contact the Sexual Health Department on 02921 835208. Lines are open Monday to Friday from 9am-3pm, excluding Bank Holidays.  For more information on the services provided click here.

The PIPA Trial

Health and Care Research Wales are supporting a new study, aiming to help reduce depression and anxiety in 11-15 year olds.  Please see the information below and scan the QR code on the poster for more details of the PIPA Trial and how it may help someone you know.

What is the PIPA Trial?

The PIPA Trial is exploring the effectiveness of an online resource for parents/carers to help reduce depression and anxiety in young people.

Who can take part?

Families of young people aged 11-15 years old in the UK.

What does it involve?

Parents/carers and young people will be asked to fill in some online questionnaires and parents/carers will be invited to work through a series of online modules or factsheets.

Benefits for Families

Improve knowledge of mental health and emotional wellbeing in young people.  Pick up some useful tips and strategies to help support young people.

Covid Vaccination Update

We are pleased to say that in the surgery we have vaccinated the following age groups:

88% of our over 80 year old patients - 458 patients

90.1% of our 75 - 79 year old patients - 337 patients

We have now moved onto the next age group of patients which ages 65 - 69. 

We are contacting patients directly, so there is no need to call the surgery to arrange an appointment.

If you are aged 75+ or know a family member aged 75+ who has not been vaccinated, please contact the surgery.
